Job summary

City Year is seeking a student-focused AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across grade levels, helping them achieve academic success and positive behaviors. Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff to support classroom activities.

You will participate in both one-on-one and small-group work, monitor progress, and help create a safe, engaging learning space while contributing to whole-school initiatives before, during, and after

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class.
• Create and implement engaging activities to support literacy and math development.
• Contribute to school-wide programs that boost student engagement and family involvement.
