Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member is sought to coach and mentor students, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance and adopt positive school behaviors.

You will plan and monitor progress, support teachers with class instruction and targeted student guidance, and participate in facilitated reviews of data. Training is provided at the start, with ongoing collaboration across school teams.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).
• Agree to and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on class instruction and in-class support.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school.
• Collaborate with teachers and team to collect, record, analyze, and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
