Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level City Year AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students in elementary through high school. You will focus on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors while planning progress and supporting teachers with whole-class instruction and in-class student assistance.

During the year, City Year provides 2–4 weeks of training and ongoing guidance, with a paid biweekly living stipend and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.
• Assist students with literacy and math through varied activities.
• Support teachers with in-class instruction and student assistance.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and after-school programs.
