Job summary

City Year is seeking a City Year AmeriCorps Member to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. You will work with teachers, plan activities, monitor progress, and participate in school-wide initiatives to support student outcomes.

Amid training and collaboration with school staff, you will help sustain a safe, engaging learning environment and contribute to after-school and virtual programs.

Qualifications

• No special skills required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills through varied activities.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Foster an engaging, safe classroom environment with teachers.
• Support after-school and virtual programming including enrichment and intervention.
• Plan and monitor student progress with teachers and data reviews.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
