City Year AmeriCorps member is an entry-level, full-time role focused on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and positive school behaviors. You will partner with teachers to support literacy and math skills and participate in classroom activities and data-driven reviews.

The position includes training at the start of the year, a bi-weekly living stipend, and benefits for City Year locations in the United States.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or mentoring is not required; training provided.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be aware that DACA status is not eligible at this time.

Responsabilités

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to promote academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual progress; work with teachers on instruction and student support.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development with students.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Lead extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school.
• Recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior.
