Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking entry-level, paid, full-time members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors with teachers and schools.

You will receive comprehensive training at the year's start and participate in AmeriCorps benefits. Eligible candidates are U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 17–25 with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities
• Create and implement behavior management strategies
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress
• Collect and review student data in City Year systems
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space with teachers and staff
