Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high school, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing support with partner teachers and school staff to guide you every step of the way.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students, 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities and monitor progress.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning activities, reflection and repetition.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record and analyze student progress.
