Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time service opportunity in the United States. You will coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, supporting academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors within classrooms and school communities.

You’ll receive 2–4 weeks of training, work with teachers and staff, and participate in school-wide initiatives while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in education and youth development.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required or equivalent.
• Some college experience or college degree required or preferred.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S. (citizenship or permanent residency) and readiness to serve in City Year AmeriCorps.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to improve literacy and math skills.
• Develop and implement behavior management and engagement strategies in the classroom.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and support whole-class instruction.
• Assist with extended day and virtual programming for student enrichment and clubs.
• Support city-wide initiatives to increase student engagement among families.
