Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor to support students across elementary to high school. You will coach and mentor students, helping improve academic outcomes and attendance while collaborating with teachers.

During the year you will receive training, work with partner teachers, and participate in in-class and after-school activities, building positive behaviors and contributions to the school community.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided.
• Ability to work with students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic skills and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to student level.
• Create a engaging, safe classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Assist with extended day and after-school programs and events.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
