City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high schools to improve academic success and attendance. You will plan progress, support teachers, and help create an engaging, positive classroom environment.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks), with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff. Eligible candidates are U.S. citizens or permanent residents aged 17–25 by July 1, 2025, with a GED or diploma, some college, or a degree.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient).
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or a college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms or state/national programs.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students.
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities.
• Plan and monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Create a positive, safe classroom space and reinforce good behavior.
• Assist with school-wide initiatives and engage families through programs.
