Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level AmeriCorps member to serve as a Student Success Coach and Mentor in Houston, TX. This paid, full-time role focuses on coaching and mentoring elementary to high school students to promote academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff. You will work with identified students, develop literacy/math skills, implement behavior plans, and participate in

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms in a state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle, and/or high school students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class support.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Contribute to school-wide programs and events to engage students and families.
