Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools to coach and mentor students, helping them improve attendance, literacy, and math skills. You will work with teachers to implement in-class and after-school supports, starting in mid-2025, with a focus on building positive behaviors and academic success within a supportive team.

As an entry-level, paid full-time position, it includes benefits and a structured training program. This role emphasizes service, community impact, and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; DACA-status not eligible.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Able to pass background check and begin by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan literacy and math activities by student level and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and monitor student progress.
• Support extended day and after-school programs, including enrichment and clubs.
• Assist in planning school-wide events to recognize student growth.
