Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, helping them improve academics, attendance, and behavior. This paid, full-time role provides initial training and ongoing support from partner teachers.

You'll plan 1:1 and group activities, work with teachers on classroom instruction, and participate in school community initiatives. Training begins at the start of the year with 2–4 weeks of onboarding.

Qualifications

• No formal teaching experience required; training provided at year start.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress with teachers.
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to youth development.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math activities tailored to level.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and data.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom environment.
• Assist with extended day and before/after school programs.
