Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member role offers entry-level, full-time paid service focused on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and develop positive behaviors. You’ll work with teachers to monitor progress, plan in-class support, and assist with literacy, math, and attendance initiatives across grade levels.

Training is provided at year start, with ongoing guidance from school staff. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a bi-weekly living stipend, relocation

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma or higher.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities and encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and input data.
• Support after-school and extended day programming and student engagement.
