Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches, mentoring students across elementary to high school levels. They plan instruction support, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to boost attendance and academic outcomes.

Throughout the year, AmeriCorps members participate in training, receive a bi-weekly stipend and benefits through City Year, and commit to beginning in July/August 2025 in locations across Kansas and the United States.

Qualifications

• Citizen or permanent resident; work authorization required.
• Ages 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• No more than three AmeriCorps terms served.
• Agree to a background check.
• Be able to start City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor student progress and support academic coaching.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff for classroom instruction.
• Contribute to behavior management and student engagement initiatives.
• Assist in collecting/recording data and participating in reviews of student progress.
• Support after-school and extended-day programs and events.
