Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to promote academic success, better attendance, and positive school behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers on in-class support and student data tracking.

Training is provided, with start dates in July or August 2025. The role emphasizes teamwork, dedication to students, and community impact within the City Year program.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (authorization to work in the U.S.).
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Support teachers with classroom instruction and student progress reviews.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data in City Year's data system.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
