UNC Health is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I to join the Rehab unit on a temporary full-time basis. The program offers hands-on experience under RN supervision and collaboration with an interprofessional team.

Responsibilities include direct patient care tasks, learning under a nursing mentor, and supporting daily unit operations. Minimum education: high school diploma or GED; current enrollment in a prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.

Formación

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Responsabilidades

• Observe and document patient information and report changes to a nurse or provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care per plan of care, including vital signs and basic procedures.
• Support nursing staff with routine tasks, room turnover, and supply stocking.
• Reinforce patient education and ensure understanding of instructions.
