UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill seeks a Student Nurse Extern I to join the 2nd Floor Diagnostic Tower. You will collaborate with RNs to provide patient care under supervision, supporting admission, care delivery, and discharge processes.

The role emphasizes learning through hands-on experiences in a fast-paced clinical setting, with prelicensure nursing students progressing toward licensure.

Formación

• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Able to organize and prioritize patient care assignments.
• Basic computer skills for charting and documentation.
• Lift and move patients or equipment up to 40–50 lbs.
• Stand and walk frequently during shifts.
• BLS and Nursing Assistant I certification details as described.

Responsabilidades

• Observe, collect, and document patient information for care.
• Report significant changes in patient condition to RN or provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care, including vitals and basic tasks.
• Support routine care activities and maintain unit cleanliness.
• Reinforce teaching and ensure patient understanding of instructions.
• Assist with exams and procedures and coordinate with team.
• In psychiatric settings, support behavior plans and de escalate when needed.
