Job summary

UNC Health Care System is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I to support patient care in the 2nd Floor Diagnostic Tower unit. You will work under an RN partner, performing supervised nursing tasks and learning through hands-on experience in a hospital setting.

The externship runs in a clinical environment with a focus on prelicensure nursing education, including observation, patient care activities, and safety responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to organize and prioritize patient care.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes to a nurse or provider.
• Provide direct patient care as outlined in the care plan and assist with routine activities of daily living.
• Assist providers with routine exams and procedures, and procure equipment during emergencies.
