Job summary

UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is seeking a Student Nurse Extern I to join the patient care team for a summer externship. The program provides immersive experience for prelicensure nursing students to work under an RN partner within the Nursing Assistant I scope of practice, gaining hands-on clinical exposure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report significant changes.
• Assist with admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care including vitals, measurements, specimen collection, simple wound care, and glucose checks.
• Provide direct and indirect patient care and support daily living activities.
• Assist in routine examinations and procedures and help with equipment in emergencies.
