UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus offers a Student Nurse Extern I position designed for nursing students enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing. The extern works with an RN partner, under supervision, to provide skilled care within the Nursing Assistant I scope of practice.

This is a temporary full-time role in the Family Medicine unit. The position emphasizes hands-on patient care, observation, and patient/family education, with a focus on clinical learning and professional development

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.

Mansioni

• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes to RN or provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care/treatments per plan of care including vitals, wound care, transfers, and ambulation assistance.
• Assist with routine examinations and procedures; support equipment and supplies as needed.
• Reinforce patient teaching and document understanding.
