Job summary

Proviso West High School is seeking an Activity Sponsor to supervise and promote a student club in alignment with district policies and student development goals. The sponsor acts as mentor and liaison to ensure a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience while coordinating with staff, administration, and parents.

The role requires strong organization, leadership, and collaboration with students, with responsibility for all duties beyond the instructional day.

• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and effective supervision for club activities, meetings, events, field trips and practices.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved and transportation/permission slips are in place.
• Comply with mandated reporting obligations under Illinois law and district policy.
• Prepare students for participation by defining expectations and offering constructive feedback.
• Guide students to plan inclusive, meaningful activities aligned with the club's mission.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage with school personnel to ensure safe events.
• Promote student involvement and positive interactions among students and staff.
• Maintain communication with stakeholders about club operations, events and expectations.
