Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an Activity Sponsor at Proviso West High School. The sponsor will organize, supervise, and promote a student organization, serving as a mentor and liaison between students, staff, and administration to provide a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience.

This is an extra-duty stipend position; responsibilities include compliance with policies, coordinating events, supervising trips, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Preferred: PEL, Substitute license, Retired educator, or related certification.
• Preference to PTU bargaining unit members where substantially equal.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision for all club activities, meetings, events, field trips and practices, ensuring safety and compliance with policies.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved and paperwork completed per district procedures.
• As a mandated reporter under Illinois law, comply with training and reporting obligations (325 ILCS 5/4).
• Demonstrate knowledge related to the activity by preparing students for participation and giving feedback.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage to ensure well-organized events.
• Represent the club and district with professionalism and integrity.
