Job summary

Proviso Math & Science Academy seeks an Athletics/Activities/Activity Sponsor to oversee a student club, mentor students, and ensure safety and alignment with district goals. The role acts as liaison among students, staff, and administration, guiding activities and events beyond the regular instructional day.

The sponsor will coordinate with administrators, teachers, and district procedures, manage logistics, and enforce eligibility while promoting inclusive, developmentally appropriate student

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), Substitute Teaching License, Retired educator, or Educator-Related Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and effective supervision for all club-related activities, including meetings, events, field trips, and practices.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved through district procedures and that permission slips and transportation are completed.
• As a mandated reporter under Illinois law, comply with training and reporting obligations.
• Demonstrate knowledge and expertise related to the activity by preparing students for participation and clearly defining expectations.
• Guide students in planning and executing meaningful, inclusive activities aligned with the club's mission.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage with appropriate school personnel.
• Use feedback and data to inform program decisions and improve club impact.
• Promote student involvement and model respectful interactions.
• Provide leadership opportunities and support academic balance for students.
• Maintain open communication with stakeholders about club operations and events.
• Ensure meetings and events are publicized and conducted in a timely, inviting manner.
• Collaborate with co-sponsors, staff, and departments to support school community goals.
• Attend sponsor meetings, activity fairs, and Open House events.
• Manage the club's budget and financial records per district procedures.
• Submit required documentation and year-end summaries.
• Complete annual post-activity evaluation with leadership colleagues.
• Comply with federal and state laws including FERPA, Title IX, and district policies.
