Job summary

Proviso West High School is seeking a Drill Team Activity Sponsor to supervise and promote a student club in alignment with district goals. This is a stipend, non-tenure extra-duty assignment contingent on enrollment, program approval, and funding.

The sponsor acts as mentor, liaison, and supervisor to ensure a safe, engaging extracurricular experience. The role requires leadership, organizational skills, and collaboration with staff, students, and administrators.

• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and effective supervision for all club-related activities.
• Ensure off-campus activities are approved and that permissions are obtained.
• As a mandated reporter under Illinois law, comply with all training and reporting obligations.
• Demonstrate knowledge and expertise related to the activity by preparing students for participation.
• Guide students in planning and executing meaningful, inclusive activities.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage for events.
• Use feedback and participation data to inform program decisions.
• Comply with all applicable district policies and procedures.
• Promote student involvement and leadership opportunities.
• Support students' academic success by balancing academics and activities.
• Enforce academic eligibility per IHSA and district policy.
• Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding operations and events.
• Publicize meetings and events in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with sponsors, staff, and departments to achieve goals.
• Attend sponsor meetings and Open House events.
• Manage the club's budget and financial records per district procedures.
• Submit required documentation and year-end reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
