Job summary

Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, seeks a Student Account Resolution Specialist to support students facing financial challenges and to promote retention by guiding them through balances and payment options. You will coordinate with collections, campus departments, and external agencies to resolve accounts and ensure timely updates.

The role requires 2+ years in AR/billing/collections, strong communication, and MSU knowledge of FERPA.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, collections, general office work, or customer service.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
• Experience with student information systems preferred.
• Knowledge of FERPA and FDCPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as primary liaison between students, collection agencies, and the Business Office, explaining balances, payment options, and obligations.
• Reviews and analyzes student accounts to identify issues or potential solutions.
• Establishes payment arrangements and monitors adherence to terms.
• Coordinates with third-party collections and ensures accurate account placements and updates.
• Maintains thorough records of communications and actions taken on delinquent accounts.
• Collaborates with Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Success Center, and Advising to resolve holds or barriers to student success.
