Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join our Renewables team.

You will design foundations and retaining walls for utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage facilities, and support project managers with reports and plans. The ideal candidate holds a civil/structural engineering degree, is a PE, and has at least 3 years of related experience with ASCE loading calculations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required; SE registration a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
• Familiar with ASCE loading calculations.
• Background in foundation design, including shallow spread footings, slab-on-grade, and deep foundations.
• Sound verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) a must.
• Proficient with structural engineering software, such as RISA.
• AutoCAD drafting experience is a plus.
• Geotechnical background is a plus.
• Solar or wind energy background is a plus.
• Minimal travel possible.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the structural design of foundations and retaining walls for utility scale wind, battery storage and solar facilities.
• Prepares or directs the structural design reports, specifications, and plans.
• Assist Project Managers in the drafting and design of utility scale solar projects.
• Day to day support and input to Project Managers.
