Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Structural Drafter to join our design team in Reston, VA. You will develop structural layout drawings in a 3-D model, support foundations and steel/concrete detailing, and collaborate across disciplines on complex plant design projects.

Applicants should have an associate degree or equivalent drafting experience with 4+ years in structural detailing, proficiency in 3D modeling, and the ability to mentor junior drafters.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent with relevant coursework.
• 4+ years of detailed structural design experience.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings with steel and concrete components.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering teams across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model.
• Design structural supports and foundations; troubleshoot issues.
• Generate schematics using 3D modeling software.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for the integrated structural model.
• Support other designers and project teams to ensure timely design.
• Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently and in teams.
• Possibly accompany senior staff on field walkdowns and data gathering.
• Mentor junior drafters and designers.
