Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a structural designer to join our multi-disciplined engineering teams. The role involves developing structural layout drawings in a 3D model, designing supports and foundations, and solving complex design challenges on power plant projects.

The position emphasizes collaboration with engineers and designers across disciplines, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating design deliverables for timely completion. A hybrid work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or high school diploma with drafting coursework/experience.
• 4+ years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
• Proficiency with design software tools for 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings with steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
• Ability to interface with engineering/design teams across disciplines in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural physical layout drawings in 3D model.
• Design structural supports, foundations, and troubleshoot design issues.
• Use 3D modeling to generate schematics.
• Coordinate detailed design phases of the structural model.
• Support other designers and project team members to ensure timely design.
