Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a structural designer in Washington, DC, to join our design team. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remotely, focusing on 3-D plant layout drawings and structural steel and concrete detailing.

You will collaborate across disciplines, develop 3-D models, coordinate design phases, mentor junior drafters, and support field data gathering as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent required.
• Four or more years of detailed design experience in structural steel and concrete drawings.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling software.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings and supports.
• Ability to interface with multi-discipline design teams in power plant projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3-D plant layout drawings and structural schematics.
• Design structural supports and foundations; troubleshoot issues.
• Use 3D modeling tools to generate structural designs.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for integrated structural models.
• Support other designers and project teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Plan and execute structural deliverables solo or with the team.
• Assist senior designers/engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers in tool use.
