Job summary

Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work arrangement combining three days in the office with two remote days for this structural designer role. You will join the structural design team working on 3D plant layout models and multi-discipline projects, focusing on steel and concrete detailing, foundations, and supports.

You will coordinate design phases, mentor junior drafters, and may accompany senior staff on field visits. A background in drafting and 3D tools, plus strong collaboration, is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Four or more years of detailed design in structural steel and reinforced concrete drawings.
• Proficiency with design software tools for 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings including steel frames, connections, and rebar detailing.
• Ability to interface with other engineering and design disciplines in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural layout drawings in a 3D model as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Design structural supports, foundations, and troubleshoot structural issues.
• Generate structural design schematics using 3D modeling tools.
• Coordinate detailed design phases for an integrated structural model.
• Support other designers and project team members to ensure timely deliverables.
• Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently and as part of a team.
• Potential field walkdowns and data gathering with senior designers/engineers.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers in drafting tools.
