Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking an IT Category Manager to lead strategic procurement for IT services and providers across the US. This role focuses on aligning IT demand with business goals, negotiating agreements, and managing supplier risk in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Responsibilities include developing category strategies, partnering with Legal, Risk, and IT leaders, and driving cost control while ensuring supply continuity and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Management, Economics, CS or IS.
• 7+ years of experience in Supply Management, Procurement or IT Business Office roles.
• Experience overseeing IT services and suppliers.
• Strong knowledge of the IT marketplace and industry norms.
• Experience with IT services agreements and statements of work.

Responsibilities

• Align IT demand with IT, business client and SM leadership.
• Manage a portfolio of suppliers, renewals, and third-party risk management.
• Develop relationships with clients to understand procurement demands and timelines.
• Lead category strategies to manage portfolios, control costs and ensure supply continuity.
• Lead negotiation of supplier agreements with internal partners from GC, Risk, IT and business clients.
• Negotiate statements of work and ordering documents with clients and suppliers.
• Assess and mitigate third-party agreement risk with internal partners (GC, Risk, IT GRC).
• Collaborate with CIO/IT leaders to contribute to business cases and procurement timelines.
• Participate in SOBRA, TPRM, SAB, Risk Council and P&L improvement processes.
• Promote IT strategic procurement as a business function and support diversity goals.
