Job summary

Barrett Business Services, Inc. (BBSI) is seeking a proactive Business Development Manager to expand the client base in the California region.

You will lead outreach, cultivate referral partnerships, and drive revenue growth by positioning BBSI’s HR, payroll, and risk management solutions with potential clients. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of sales success, healthcare/insurance or payroll services experience, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a top sales performer.
• ASO or Payroll services sales experience.
• Commercial Insurance sales experience, with knowledge in Workers Compensation.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with automobile insurance; travel ~85% locally, some overnight.

Responsibilities

• Find, engage, and close new client prospects.
• Build a channel of referral partner relationships generating qualified leads.
• Understand BBSI’s ideal client base and business development best practices.
• Develop 5+ business development meetings per week to build a referral network.
• Align prospective clients with BBSI’s business units to determine best-fit through consultative selling.
• Create and execute a sales plan to meet or exceed goals.
• Coordinate schedules and leads with the business unit team.
• Achieve 2–3 new clients per month after the initial training period.
