Job summary

NYC Outward Bound Schools is seeking a Director of Institutional Giving to lead strategy and growth of our foundations, corporate partners and public funders. This role focuses on cultivating new prospects and deepening current support with a strong emphasis on compelling funding narratives.

The ideal candidate will craft persuasive proposals, manage a diverse funder portfolio, and collaborate with program, finance and leadership to expand private and public funding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising, preferably for education or youth development.
• Proven track record closing and stewarding 5-figure+ gifts.
• Strong familiarity with NYC philanthropic community, esp. corporate and foundation partners.
• Experience developing and executing effective fundraising strategies.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with fundraising tools such as Salesforce, DonorSearch and Candid.
• Successful completion of a NYC Department of Education background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement institutional funding strategy with VP of Advancement to reach revenue goals.
• Manage a portfolio of foundations, corporations, and public funders.
• Write letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and other solicitation materials.
