Job summary

The Jewish Education Project in New York, NY is seeking a Director of Institutional Giving to lead a sophisticated institutional giving portfolio and help build strong funder partnerships.

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, you will manage funder relationships, drive proposals and stewardship, and collaborate with the CEO and senior leaders to align funding with strategic priorities across North America.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in institutional giving or related nonprofit fundraising.
  • Proven ability to secure five- to six-figure grants from private/family/federated foundations.
  • Experience managing direct funder relationships and supporting C-suite principals.
  • Strong writer and editor; translate program work into funder-facing narratives.
  • Excellent project management and deadline discipline.
  • Experience supervising junior development staff.
  • Proficiency with CRM/grants platforms and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Jewish philanthropic community is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of foundations and federations to secure institutional funding aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Lead proposal development, letters of inquiry, and annual reports across the portfolio.
  • Coordinate reporting for non-individual funders (federation grants, large foundations, family foundations).
  • Draft ready-to-deploy one-pagers on key program areas for funder communications.
  • Partner with program leaders to translate priorities into fundable opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Advancement team to align funder strategies with major gifts.
