Job summary

City Year New York is seeking a Senior Director of Institutional Giving to expand private revenue. The role leads corporate and foundation fundraising, stewarding current sponsors and securing new investments, with a goal to grow annual funding and support student impact through national service.

The position is hybrid (2 days in office) with a September 2026 start, reporting to the Managing Director of Development & Communications. Bachelor's degree and 6+ years fundraising are preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of fundraising experience, preferably for nonprofit education.
• Experience with foundations and corporations, identifying prospects and writing grants.
• Proven ability to close major gifts with high-net-worth donors.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and strong research ability.
• Willingness to occasionally work irregular hours and travel for events.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate partnerships strategy to increase funding and diversify support.
• Oversee stewardship of current sponsorships and grants, and identify new partners.
• Develop proposals with senior leadership and external champions.
• Manage institutional portfolio in Salesforce CRM and coordinate events.
• Collaborate with teams to implement fundraising goals and measure results.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Master’s Degree preferred
