Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a strong EHS leader to guide corporate-level EHS professionals and influence operations toward a safe, compliant workplace. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders, drive risk mitigation, and advance EHS programs across locations.

You will also coordinate audits, medical management, and workers' compensation strategies while supporting a positive employee experience through effective leadership and coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, health or related field and 10+ years related experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a leadership role including team development and management.
• Ability to make strategic decisions under pressure and guide emergency response.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% to other locations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with focus and efficiency.
• Ability to interpret and communicate EHS data to drive action.
• Experience designing and executing EHS systems and programs with operations.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain compliance with federal/state EHS regulations and company programs.
• Develop and implement corporate EHS policy, programs, and training materials.
• Lead audit activities (SIPS, EMS, ISO, internal) and close audit findings timely.
• Coordinate procedures for case management and workers' compensation cost mitigation.
• Lead Sr. Regional Managers and support operation EHS teams.
• Develop EHS programs and manage databases, training, alerts, and tools.
