Job summary

Smithfield Foods in the United States seeks an experienced EHS leader to direct environmental, health, and safety programs at the corporate level and partner with senior leaders to build a secure, compliant work environment.

You will lead EHS professionals, drive risk mitigation, audits, and training across locations, and coordinate with operations to embed EHS into daily work while traveling up to half the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, health or related field and 10+ years related experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a leadership position.
• Ability to make strategic decisions under stress, including leading emergency response efforts.
• Travel to other locations up to 50% depending on initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with focus and efficiency.
• Able to interpret, design, and communicate key EHS data to internal stakeholders and act on it.
• Ability to plan and execute EHS systems and programs with operations.

Responsibilities

• EHS Compliance: establish and maintain compliance with federal/state EHS regs and programs; partner with operations to implement solutions.
• Corporate Program Development and Administration: develop and implement corporate EHS policy, programs, and training materials.
• Audits: lead corporate and internal audits and close out findings.
• Medical Management and Workers' Compensation: coordinate procedures and cost mitigation.
• Leadership: lead Sr. Regional Managers and support a positive employee experience through development and coaching.
• EHS Programs: manage EHS systems, databases (Cority), audits, and training.
