Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a strong EHS leader to head corporate EHS functions and influence across the organization. You will partner with senior leaders to drive environmental, health, and safety initiatives and foster a secure work environment.

The role involves leading regional managers, managing audits, and developing EHS programs while ensuring compliance with EPA/OSHA regulations and performance metrics. This leadership position includes significant travel and collaboration across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, health or related field with 10+ years of related experience.
• Minimum 5+ years in a leadership role with team development and management.
• Ability to make strategic decisions under pressure, including emergency response.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% depending on initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with focus and efficiency.
• Ability to communicate EHS data to stakeholders and drive actions.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain compliance with federal/state EHS regulations.
• Develop and administer corporate EHS policy, programs, and training materials.
• Lead audit and corrective action activities (SIPS, EMS, ISO).
• Coordinate procedures for workers' compensation and case management.
• Lead Sr. Regional Managers to drive EHS across operations.
• Develop and implement EHS programs and data management systems.
