Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking an experienced EHS leader to oversee corporate EHS programs and drive risk mitigation across operations. You will collaborate with senior EHS leaders and operations teams to ensure a safe, compliant work environment and effective program administration.

Responsibilities include managing audits, injury prevention, medical management, and development of EHS systems and training materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, health or related field and 10+ years related experience, required.
• Minimum of 5+ years' leadership experience including team development and management, required.
• Ability to make strategic decisions in stressful situations, including leading emergency response.
• Willingness to travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time depending on initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables with focus and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain compliance with applicable federal and state EHS regulations and company programs.
• Develop corporate EHS policy, programs, and training materials and participate in trainings and meetings.
• Lead audits (SIPS, EMS, ISO) and close out findings in a timely manner.
• Coordinate medical management and workers' compensation procedures and costs.
• Lead Sr. Regional Managers to drive EHS into operations with a focus on employee experience.
• Develop EHS programs, data systems, risk mitigation, audits, Ergo/Fit for Work, SDS approval, and EHS alerts.
