Job summary

American Global is seeking a Contractual Risk Manager to join our Infrastructure team. You will analyze contractual risk in construction and infrastructure projects, advise on risk allocation, and support negotiations with clients and insurers.

You will collaborate with contractors, legal teams, and surety professionals to develop practical risk management strategies and contribute to client strategy and growth across multi-sector projects in the US and Canada.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
• Proven experience in construction, infrastructure, or energy law.
• Deep knowledge of contract analysis, negotiation, indemnification and risk allocation.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business terms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative approach across legal, construction, insurance, risk management disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Contractual Risk Analysis: Analyze major construction and infrastructure agreements focusing on risk allocation, indemnification, insurance requirements, and key provisions.
• Contract Negotiation & Client Advisory: Support clients through negotiations, identifying exposures and advising on risk allocation, indemnities, and insurance terms.
• Insurance & Risk Advisory: Develop risk management and insurance strategies based on project risk profiles and contract requirements.
• Insurance Policy Analysis: Evaluate coverages, exclusions, and uncertainties with stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Risk Guidance: Translate complex provisions into practical risk considerations for contractors, legal, and insurance teams.
• Project Agreement Review: Review JV, design, and subcontractor agreements with focus on indemnities and liability allocations.
• Business Development & Growth: Assist senior colleagues with client strategies and market insights to grow relationships.
• Thought Leadership: Contribute to industry articles, panels, and presentations.
