Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Business Development Engineer for the US Air Force to bridge RF capabilities with DoD requirements. You will work with engineering and BD teams to support acquisition stakeholders across airborne and expeditionary networks, with up to 50% travel and a flexible remote option depending on location.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in systems engineering or defense tech, experience with SDRs and RF test equipment, and a TS/SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related C5ISR field with 2–5 years of experience in systems engineering, technical business development, or defense tech roles; OR HS Diploma with 5+ years of relevant technical or defense experience.
• Exposure to SDRs, IP-based routing, or tactical communication systems.
• Basic familiarity with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
• Security Clearance: Government SECRET clearance or ability to obtain within 15 months of hire.
• Knowledge of Department of the Air Force procurement pathways and battlefield networking modernization priorities.
• Experience with TCP/IP, Linux, or scripting for test automation.

Responsibilities

• Support technical planning, network configuration, and live on-air field trials and evaluations.
• Collaborate with Applications Engineering to use testing data and benchmarking to verify architectures.
• Align with Business Development to meet technical needs and strategic priorities.
• Build and present technical demonstrations for airborne, edge, and expeditionary networking needs.
• Conduct market research on potential integrations with industry partners and test end-to-end networks.
• Engage with Air Force stakeholders to translate field feedback into product roadmap inputs.
• Travel up to 50% for field tests, meetings, and demonstrations.
