Job summary

BDO USA, LLP is seeking a Director of Business Development in Chicago to lead local office and industry revenue growth. You will collaborate with Practice Leaders, industry heads, and the Chief Business Development Officer to set and execute the office BD plan and market strategy.

You will identify target markets, drive cross-selling programs, and manage lead generation activities through cold calling, events, direct mail, email campaigns, and webinars.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years BD experience with a high school diploma/GED is acceptable
• Experience building relationships with C-level executives (CEOs, CFOs, boards) and referral sources
• Prior experience in professional services BD or sales, including accounting, investment banking, or financial advisory
• Proficient with CRM systems and client management tools
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet opportunities and client engagements

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes office/industry BD plans with Practice Leaders and principals
• Segments target markets and identifies opportunities aligned with firm strategy
• Leads lead generation, pipeline management, and pursuit planning for opportunities
• Collaborates with marketing and BD teams and reports progress monthly
• Participates in pursuit strategy, meetings with senior executives, and proposal support
• Maintains CRM data, dashboards, and pipeline reporting across the office
• Drives go-to-market initiatives and ensures consistent use of firm processes
