Job summary

Datum Engineers seeks a Business Development Director to expand the firm’s presence by building and strengthening client relationships with architects, owners, contractors, and partners in the Dallas market.

You will identify opportunities, position Datum on pursuit teams, support proposals, and help engineers grow as seller-doers, coordinating BD activities across offices and practice areas. This is not a traditional sales role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of business development experience in the AEC industry.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Existing network of relationships with architects, owners, developers, contractors, and industry partners.
• Demonstrated success identifying opportunities and helping firms secure work.
• Strong understanding of RFQs, RFPs, and consultant selection processes.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to influence without direct authority across multiple offices and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with architects, owners, contractors, developers, and partners.
• Represent Datum at industry organizations, conferences, and networking events.
• Identify and research future project opportunities and market trends.
• Position Datum as a valued member of project teams and strategic pursuits.
• Coordinate business development activities across offices and practice areas.
• Partner with technical staff to develop proposals, qualifications packages, scopes, and fee estimates.
• Lead the firm's response to RFQs and RFPs.
• Facilitate communication and information sharing among Principals and project leaders.
• Develop client feedback and satisfaction initiatives.
• Coach and mentor engineers in relationship-building and business development.
