Job summary

City of Austin is seeking a Drainage Operations and Maintenance Assistant to join the Public Works team. The role supports construction and maintenance of storm drainage infrastructure and includes field inspections, equipment upkeep, and light concrete work.

Responsibilities include traffic control, form construction, erosion control, and routine landscape maintenance. The position is essential, outdoor, and may require after-hours work and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in maintenance and/or construction and/or concrete work.
• Valid Class C Driver's License and good driving record.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and to follow safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and minor maintenance on equipment and reports issues.
• Assists with construction and rehabilitation of storm drainage infrastructure.
• Performs traffic control with cones, signs, and barricades at job sites.
• Constructs forms and pours concrete for inlets, headwalls and walls; grades bedding material.
