Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a skilled Drainage Operations and Maintenance II to perform heavy equipment operation, storm water management, and erosion control in open waterways. You will conduct preventive maintenance and assist with traffic control while ensuring public safety and project quality.

Ideal candidates have a Class A CDL, high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings. On-call duties and rotating schedules may apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CDL Class A license with endorsements within 120 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of TMUTCD provisions related to traffic control.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and performing preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide array of heavy equipment safely.
  • Perform storm water management, erosion control, and bank stabilization tasks.
  • Assist with traffic control and site setup in construction zones.
  • Prepare daily reports, JHA, and requisition forms.
  • Provide on-call response for floods and severe weather events.
