Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance on highways, drainage structures, and streams. Responsibilities include snow removal, landscape tasks, and operating a range of trucks and equipment. Requires CDL-B, DOT medical card, flagging training, and compliance with safety rules.

Candidates must pass a drug test and will be subject to random testing. Training in forklift operation and defensive driving is provided; readiness to work extended

Qualifications

• Requires valid Utah CDL-B at hire
• DOT Medical Card at hire or within 30 days
• Flagging training completed within 60 days and recertified every 2 years
• Forklift certification within 4 months (120 days) of hire
• Defensive Driving course within 2 weeks of hire
• Must pass mandatory drug test and be subject to random testing

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of small hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains and repairs tools/equipment and stores securely.
• Sets up traffic warning signs, cones, barricades, and flags traffic.
• Maintains/repairs storm drains, irrigation systems, and other drainage structures.
• Trims trees and bushes; hauls away debris.
• Adheres to OSHA and MUTCD safety rules.
• Remains capable of operating multiple heavy/light trucks and snow removal equipment.
• Develops cooperative relationships with staff and public.
• Other duties as assigned.
