Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking personnel for semi-skilled and skilled maintenance on highways, drainage structures, and streams. The role includes snow removal and light landscaping, with strict safety and certification requirements.

Applicants must possess a Utah or Utah-accepted driver’s license, obtain a Class B CDL within 60 days, and hold a valid DOT Medical Card. Training in flagging and forklift operation is required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• A valid Driver’s License issued by Utah or acceptable by Utah is required at hire.
• Must obtain Class B CDL within 60 days of hire to operate county vehicle.
• Must have a current DOT Medical Card at hire or within 30 days.
• Must complete flagging training and recertify every 2 years.
• Defensive Driving within 2 weeks; forklift certification within 4 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of small hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains and repairs tools and equipment; conducts minor repairs.
• Sets up traffic signs, cones, barricades, and flags traffic.
• Maintains storm drains and drainage structures by clearing debris.
• Trims trees and bushes and hauls away debris.
• Follows OSHA/MUTCD safety rules; may operate trucks.
• Removes snow from roadways; develops professional relationships with others.
• Other duties as assigned.
