Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a maintenance worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance on highways, drainage structures, and streams. The role includes snow removal and light landscaping as needed, with strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory training.

The position requires a valid Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 60 days, plus DOT medical card and multiple training certifications. Physical labor and site teamwork are essential components of the job.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a variety of tools and equipment used in road maintenance and drainage work.
• Knowledge of safety practices for road construction and storm drain maintenance.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of small hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains tools and equipment; performs minor repairs.
• Sets up traffic warning signs, cones, barricades, and flags traffic.
• Maintains/repairs storm drains, irrigation systems, and other drainage structures.
• Trims trees and bushes; hauls away debris.
• Complies with OSHA/MUTCD safety rules.
• Operates trucks and snow-plow units as needed.
• Performs snow removal on roadways.
• Develops cooperative relationships with employees and the public.
• Other duties as assigned.
