Safeway in Hood River, OR seeks a Person In Charge (PIC) to act as the primary store leader in the manager's absence. The role includes supervising employees at night, ensuring efficient store operation, and delivering excellent customer service.

The PIC also performs cashier-checker duties and may work across multiple departments. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, handling emergencies, supervising staff, and counting tills when required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsabilités

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within position scope and company policy.
• Handle emergencies, customer complaints, employee or customer accidents and supervise store personnel.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and product replenishment.
• Replace stock in displays around the checkout area.
• Keep a clean and safe work environment within the store.
• Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate electronic scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill.
• Receive payment for purchases and give correct change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry-out if needed.
• May perform close of day in the office and count tills when others leave.
• Other duties as assigned.
